Renting a Storage Unit: The Basics

What do I need to rent a storage unit at mystorage?

To rent a storage unit at mystorage, you’ll need a valid, government-issued photo ID and a lock for your unit. That’s it. You can purchase a lock at any of our facilities if you don’t have one.

How quickly can I move into a storage unit?

You can move in the same day, as long as a unit that meets your needs is available. Once the rental process is complete, you’ll receive your personalized gate access code and can begin moving in right away during facility access hours.

Can I rent a storage unit online?

Yes. You can browse available units, check sizes and pricing, and start the rental process directly on our website, all without visiting a facility first. This makes it easy to secure your unit ahead of your move.

Payments and Billing

How do I pay for my storage unit?

mystorage offers several convenient payment options. You can pay online through our secure payment portal, by phone, in person at any of our offices, or by mailing a check. We also offer automatic payment plans that debit your credit or debit card each month, so you never have to worry about missing a due date.

What payment methods does mystorage accept?

We accept cash, personal checks, money orders, and all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.

Facility Features and Access

Do I need my own lock for a storage unit?

Yes, each renter is responsible for securing their own unit with a lock. You’re welcome to bring your own, or you can purchase one directly at our facility office.

What are the access hours for mystorage storage facilities?

Each tenant receives a unique personal access code upon completing the rental process. This code gives you entry to the facility during standard access hours, no staff member needs to be present for you to access your unit.

Does mystorage have RV and boat storage?

Yes. At qualifying mystorage locations, we offer both outdoor parking spaces and enclosed indoor storage for vehicles, RVs, boats, and trailers. Available spaces come in a variety of sizes to accommodate different vehicles. Check which locations offer RV and boat storage.

Are carts or dollies available to help with moving?

Flatbed carts are available at most of our locations to make moving in and out easier. Please note that carts are first-come, first-served, so we recommend arriving with a plan in case they’re in use.

Moving and Packing Tips

Does mystorage sell packing supplies?

Yes! Most of our facilities carry a selection of packing supplies for purchase, including boxes in various sizes, bubble wrap, and packing tape. Picking up supplies on-site saves you an extra trip and helps ensure you have everything you need on moving day.

Are there dollies and hand carts available?

For the safety of all our tenants and facilities, the following items are prohibited from storage at mystorage:

  • Liquids (other than sealed, non-hazardous containers)
  • Explosives or ammunition
  • Flammable liquids or gases
  • Perishable food items
  • Toxic or hazardous materials
  • Living animals or organisms
